A Drug Free Zone
The Cove is a safe, sober and fun space for youth ages 12-17 in St. Mary's County who have been impacted by the misuse of alcohol or drugs. We offer mentoring, academic support, recreational activities, job readiness, life skills, and volunteer opportunities all at no cost to you! Contact us today to find out more information!
Mentoring & Coaching
We provide one on one as well as small group mentoring for our youth. We offer support in creating Youth Wellness Recovery Action Plans and can train high school students as Teen Mental Health First Aiders. The Cove also offers support groups grounded in research to develop wellness tools and healthy habits.
Academic Support at Cove Learning Lab
Since the majority of schooling is online due to COVID-19, The Cove currently offers a safe, learning supportive space for our youth to work on their homework and attend their classes. Transportation provided!
At The Cove, we offer a variety of recreational and cultural options. Our goal is for our youth to experience new things and to have some time to relax and have fun!
Job Readiness and "Adulting" Skills
We help our youth get ready for their next steps as well as step in to their already changing roles as young adults. Whether its completing job applications, writing resumes, budgeting or applying for a trade school or a university, we love to walk with our young people as they move forward with goals!

Youth Peer Support Specialist Supervisor/ Vocational Coordinator
Here at the Cove I assume the role of the Youth Recovery Support Supervisor. I enjoy working with youth in the community and have been doing so for 9 years now. I started as a teacher at an alternative school and soon after transferred my attention to working with at risk youth as well as youth who experience mental health challenges. I enjoy sports and music and encourage creativity and expression in all of it's forms of art whether it be drawing, writing stories, or dancing or anything in between. I take pride in building rapport with our youth in order for both of us to get the best possible experience from our one on one sessions and our mentor groups. The youth here at the Cove can be confident in knowing that Mr. Roy will give them truthful and transparent conversations even if it means challenging them to make a change that is conducive to them tackling struggles they may encounter in the every day life of being a young adult.
Youth Peer Support Specialist/ YAPRS Coordinator
Hello, my name Michelle Williams. I am a Youth Mentor & the Family and Youth Coach, here at the Cove. I genuinely enjoy reminding and encouraging the Youth and families on how to live their best authentic lives. My motto is “When you’re smiling the World smiles back!” and it is my pleasure to assist you and your youth; by starting with a simple wholehearted welcoming smile.
Youth Mentor/ Education Coordinator
At The Cove, I am a Youth Mentor and the Education Coordinator. I became a youth mentor to help guide young people through some of the most challenging years of adolescents. I place a big value on education and stress the importance of balancing school with after school fun. As the coordinator for educational activities at The Cove, I work to create engaging spaces for our young people to learn. I want to be a safe person for teens to talk to, ask questions and learn life skills. In my free time I enjoy, being active, watching T.V. shows, and spending time with my cat. Youth at The Cove know that this is a safe space for them to grow and learn many skills as a young adult.
